Great Grandma's Tomato Apple Relish 2 quarts tomatoes peeled and chopped 2 cup tart apples diced 1 cup celery chopped 1 cup white onions chopped 2 medium green bell peppers seeded and chopped 2 medium red bell peppers seeded and chopped 1 cup vinegar 2 1/4 cup sugar 1 Tablespoon salt 1 Tablespoon stick cinnamon 1/2 Tablespoon whole cloves 2 Tablespoons white mustard seed Place spices in bag, to be removed later. Put rest of ingredients in pot. Boil the mixture rapidly until it is thick and clear (it will thicken as it cools.) Pour the hot relish into sterile, HOT jars, and seal. Makes 6 1/2 pints.
