Wintergreen Cake with Icing 3 cups sifted cake flour 1 cup sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 3 tsp. baking powder 60 count (1/2 lb) wintergreen lozenges 1/2 cup vegetable shortening 1/4 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs 1 1/2 cup milk Soak lozenges in milk overnight in refrigerator. Sift all dry ingredients together; add shortening and a little over half of the milk mixture. Beat for 2 minutes at medium speed with mixer. Then add remaining milk mixture, eggs and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes. Pour into two 9 inch round waxed paper-lined baking pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Icing 2 egg whites 3/4 cup vegetable shortening 3/4 lb. powdered sugar Beat with mixer until well blended. Add 1/2 the 10x sugar and blend well. Then add remaining 10x sugar and blend well.
