Buttermilk Praline Cake 1 cup butter or vegetable shortening 4 eggs, separated 1 tsp. cream of tartar 1 cup buttermilk 2 cup sugar 3 cup cake flour 1 tsp. soda Cream shortening and sugar until light. Add egg yolks, one at a time and beat until fluffy. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with the buttermilk. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in a 9 x 13 inch greased, floured pan at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Remove from oven and spread with topping. Place under broiler 3 inches from unit for 1-2 minutes. Praline Topping 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 cup chopped nuts 1/4 cup melted butter 3 Tbsp. cream Mix. Printable version: buttermilk-praline.txt.
